It’s about the living. Hospice is a special way of caring for terminally ill patients and families. The emphasis is on comfort and palliative care, not on cure. Hospice care is holistic. It looks at all aspects of the person, not just the terminal illness. Hospice meets emotional, spiritual and psychosocial needs, as well as the physical needs. Formerly UPMC Jameson Hospice, Family Hospice and Palliative Care provides specialized services that focus on the family needs by including them in the care of the patient, as well as offering educational and emotional support. Hospice is a team approach. Family Hospice works with the patient’s attending physician and with the interdisciplinary hospice team to provide top quality palliative care.
As part of UPMC, Family Hospice is one of the only not-for-profit hospice organizations in our region.
