Precision and technical expertise by skilled surgeons, access to the latest minimally-invasive technology, and postsurgical care provided by a compassionate staff are what make UPMC Jameson a destination for surgery in our region.
UPMC Jameson offers both same-day (outpatient) surgery as well as inpatient surgery.
Minimally invasive surgery with the robotic-assisted da Vinci® System is now available at UPMC Jameson. The da Vinci robot translates a surgeon’s hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside a patient’s body. During surgery, the surgeon views the procedure on a magnified 3D high-definition monitor.
Because only small incisions are needed, benefits of robotic surgery may include less pain and scarring.
Same Day Surgery Unit
As surgical procedures advance with minimally-invasive technology, the number of outpatient surgical procedures continues to grow. Our outpatient surgery staff includes highly skilled, specialty-trained surgical and critical care registered nurses and assistants who work closely with your surgeon and anesthesia team. All outpatient surgeries are performed in one of UPMC Jameson’s operating rooms.
- Pre-and postoperative care for invasive medical imaging procedures
- Pre-and postoperative care for cardiac catheterization laboratory patients (angioplasties and diagnostic catheterization)
- Blood transfusions and intravenous infusions
Post Anesthesia Care Unit
Patients are moved to the post anesthesia care unit (PACU) immediately following surgery, where they will be continuously monitored. All PACU staff members have critical care nursing experience and are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Outpatient surgery patients return to the same day surgery unit following PACU care. Inpatients or surgery patients requiring an inpatient stay will return their rooms after recovery.
